This particular design has been on Nigel’s back burner for several years now.
A few weeks ago we were very fortunate to sell a couple of sculptures to discerning client who casually commented on his shared his love and passion for Falmouth Working Boats.
He mentioned that he would love to have a Falmouth Working Boat weathervane or possibly two for the opposing gable ends of his house.
The conversation continued and after a few site meetings and design discussions, here they are in the making process. The boats are approx 45cm long and are designed to, as closely as is practical, working in copper and steel, to reflect the design and composition of an actual Falmouth Working Boat.
The full set of sails once complete will be made from .9 copper and the 18 gauge steel hull will be finished to the clients individual specifications. Stay posted for the final photographs of the finished article mounted in situ. We hope we have done the original design credit, they are such a beautiful and charismatic boat inter-twinned with Falmouth’s maritime history.
