For some time, now Nigel has been providing work experience ‘experience days’ for those wishing to experience blacksmithing, hot and cold forging in the magical atmosphere of our historic forge.
The last session, just a few weeks ago was certainly very rewarding, a school age young man came to the forge, just for a few hours to work at the Smithy using the gas forge and the smithing tools.
Accompanied by his mother, they both had a wonderful time, as evidenced by the feedback below:
Tristan and I had a really great time. Nigel was generous with his time and knowledge. We learnt a lot and Tristan was so enthused that he’s bought a second-hand hacksaw, anvil, nails, etc. and is practicing the techniques Nigel showed him. Nigel had a lovely way with him, and I am sure when Tristan has tinkered with his tools at home he’d be interested in more hands-on workshops. Many thanks.
Child protection issues meant that no photos were taken of this session, but I have attached some other photographs of previous clients who have also experienced blacksmithing at the forge recently, to show what can be done.
